Forget the to do list, start a ta-da list

We’re all familiar with to-do lists. They help us stay organized and keep track of what’s next. But what if, instead of focusing on what we haven’t done yet, we celebrated what we have accomplished? Enter the Ta-Da List—one of my favourite tools for boosting my motivation and acknowledging my progress.

What Is a Ta-Da List?

Unlike a to-do list, which highlights tasks yet to be completed, a Ta-Da List is all about celebrating your achievements. It’s a space to record the things you’ve done, the compliments you’ve received, and the moments you’re proud of.

Whether it’s finishing a big project, receiving a kind testimonial, or even just making progress on something challenging, your Ta-Da List becomes a record of your wins—big or small.

Why Switch to a Ta-Da List?

Life is busy, and it’s easy to focus only on what’s ahead. But constantly looking forward without stopping to reflect on your achievements can leave you feeling like you’re not making progress.

A Ta-Da List helps you:

  • Celebrate your successes: By documenting your wins, you give yourself credit where it’s due.

  • Stay positive: In moments of self-doubt, your Ta-Da List becomes a reminder of what you’re capable of.

  • Boost confidence: Seeing your progress builds self-esteem and reinforces your ability to tackle future challenges.

How to Create Your Ta-Da List

Getting started with a Ta-Da List is simple:

  1. Designate a space: Use the back of your journal, a notes app, or even a dedicated notebook (I have a notebook just for this right now).

  2. Write it down: Each time you accomplish something or receive positive feedback, note it on your list.

  3. Include dates: Adding dates helps you see how consistently you’ve been making progress.

  4. Be specific: Write a short description of each achievement.

Example entries might look like this:

  • 3rd April: Finished the design for my new website.

  • 10th May: The client said my work exceeded their expectations.

  • 15th June: Got my first wholesale order!

The Power of Reflection

One of the best things about a Ta-Da List is how it can shift your perspective during tough times. When self-doubt creeps in, revisit your list and remind yourself of what you’ve already achieved. It’s a powerful way to combat negativity and refocus on your potential.

Start Your Ta-Da List Today

This is for all the milestones so don’t wait for a big milestone—start small. Write down something you’ve accomplished today or this week. Even if it feels minor, it deserves to be acknowledged. Over time, your Ta-Da List will become a record of positivity, inspiration, and proof of your growth. It is a great thing to look back on when you need a boost.

Remember: The Ta-Da List isn’t just a productivity tool; it’s a celebration of you. Celebrate your progress, honour your wins, and let your Ta-Da List remind you that you’re always moving forward.
