How did a commissioned ring become a jewellery collaboration?

The original ring design and where it all started

I am so excited to share a collaboration with Homebird Jewellery to bring you the brand-new

Good Girl Rebellion jewellery range

But, how did the collaboration happen?

As you may know, I have worked in the jewellery industry for over ten years. I love jewellery and I knew that I wanted to bring the GGR jewellery range to life. So I applied for the trademark for Good Girl Rebellion for jewellery and got it!

When I first saw Jess from Homebird Jewellery’s Mantra range at the beginning of this year I was so excited and immediately commissioned her to make me a Good Girl Rebellion ring. You can see my ring in the photo.

Morning meditation

This ring is a part of my morning meditation. I’ve made a ritual of putting it on along with the rest of my meditation.

I wear my ring every day to remind me of the cause I am working for. I believe in the power of the words that we say to ourselves. Those are our magic words. So I love that I get to wear mine every day.

The Design Process

Once I’d received my commissioned ring I knew it was the design that I wanted to hang the collection around. Jess and I started thinking about different words and phrases we could use for the jewellery and then she did a lot of sketching.

I was so impressed to see the pages of ideas and how Jess had brought the words we loved to life.

There was too much there for a first collection (perhaps you’ll get to see the rest in a future collection!).

We needed to edit the collection down so that there was choice but not too many pieces to choose from! We also wanted to cover different types of jewellery from pendants to bracelet charms, necklaces to a bangle.

We’ve recently recorded a podcast episode with tips on running a successful collaboration and it was so fun to record. I’ll share it on the podcast page and in the blog once it’s published.
